A Brief confession of Faith

The following is a summarized version of our confession.

See our full confession of faith here.

The Basics of Our Common Belief:

We believe that there is one God who is revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Creator and Sovereign of the universe. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We believe that Adam and Eve were created sinless but through disobedience to God they fell and that as a result all their posterity (all of humanity) are born with a sinful nature that manifests itself in acts of transgression. Consequently, a person is dead spiritually unless he is made alive by the Spirit of God in conjunction with the message of God in Christ Jesus. We believe Jesus of Nazareth, son of Mary, to be the Christ, who is fully human and fully deity. By his sinless life, vicarious death and bodily resurrection he secured the salvation of sinners. He is now in heaven but will return to the earth at the end of the age. We believe that God created an innumerable company of angels to serve Him but a large number of them rebelled and became His enemies under Satan, the Devil, who is the originator of sin. He and his followers are the enemies of God's people and we fight against them with spiritual weapons. We believe in the divine person and work of the Holy Spirit who testifies of Christ Jesus and ministers to and through the church. We believe that salvation from sin and its consequences to forgiveness and eternal life is by the grace of God alone through faith in Jesus Christ the only Mediator between God and humankind. We believe that sanctification is essentially belonging to God and growing toward spiritual maturity through the continuing activity of the Spirit in conjunction with life in the church. We believe that baptism and the Lord's Supper are two gospel ordinances observed by the believers to signify spiritual union with the Lord Jesus Christ in His saving deeds. We believe that the Church is essentially the household of faith, united to Christ Jesus and indwelt by the Holy Spirit under the Word of God. We believe that the proclamation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to all the people groups of the world is an essential ministry of the church. We believe in the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth to establish the eternal kingdom. We believe that the final destiny of mankind is either hell or heaven. And we believe in new heaven and earth in the eternal order following the resurrection and the judgment of the last day. We believe and preach the Reformation Solas. Scripture alone. Grace alone. Christ alone. Faith alone. Glory of God alone. We believe that salvation is wholly the work of God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone, to the glory of God alone. We believe and teach the sovereign grace of God expressed as the doctrines of grace. We believe in the radical depravity of humans resulting from the fall of Adam. (Pervasive Evil) (Thus the absolute necessity of grace.) We believe in the gracious choice of God to redeem a people for his glory whom he gave to the Son from all eternity. (Divine Initiative) (Sovereign Differentiating Grace) We believe that the death of Jesus the Messiah was necessary to redeem his people and that his death is definite and particular, achieving God's purpose of salvation for all the elect. (Particular Redemption) (Providing Grace) We believe the supernatural action of the Holy Spirit upon those outside of Christ Jesus is necessary for them to trust personally in the Savior. (Effectual Grace) (Efficacious Grace.) We believe that justification before the holy God is a permanent reality in those who have placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ which gives assurance of salvation and leads to the ongoing work of sanctification in the life of the Christian resulting in certain glorification at Christ Jesus' return and the establishment of the new heaven and new earth. (Indefectible grace) (Perseverance by God with His Saints) Salvation belongs to the LORD! Yahweh Saves!
