Psalm 23:3
He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Who we are:
We are an evangelical, baptist, and transcultural, Bible believing congregation. We worship the sovereign God who is calling people from all walks of life to serve Jesus Christ together in the fellowship of the local assembly, making and becoming authentic worshipers!
Explaining our terms:
Good Shepherd Church sees itself as a part of the church universal and welcomes all who name the name of Christ to join us in worship and service to our Savior Lord. Good Shepherd Community Church believes the New Testament model for fellowship in the local assembly embraces people from various races, cultures and economic status. Our congregations as Christians should erase the walls of separation. We extend a warm welcome to all. (“transcultural”). Good Shepherd Community Church believes the foundational truths of the Bible are essential. The good news of Jesus and his kingdom must be preached to all and all must be called to repentance and faith. Regeneration that manifests itself in conversion marks the beginning of the Christian life that needs to be lived out in the fellowship of believers. (“evangelical”) Good Shepherd Community Church is a Protestant Reformed fellowship. At the heart of our message stands the great solas - Salvation (deliverance) of people spiritual death (lostness) is by the grace of God alone through faith in Jesus the Christ alone to the glory of God Alone. Our source of authority for what we believe and practice is ultimately the Bible alone. The church is reformed in that it sees the five SOLA’s of the Reformation and the five points of Calvinism as the most accurate understanding of biblical theology. (“Reformed”) Good Shepherd Community Church believes in the sovereign grace of God. Grace is not something we can earn or to which we can contribute. As spiritually dead toward God, people are born under condemnation due to Adam’s sin and born with a nature that is at its root sinful. We are unable and unwilling to come to God. Therefore the direct intervention of God in Jesus the Christ is necessary for us to know God and be forgiven. This God has done for he in eternity chose a people for His name's sake in union with his Son. The Word became flesh and the Man Christ Jesus acted on our behalf and bore the punishment due us so that God could count us righteous in him. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for his sheep. This salvation Jesus accomplished for us in time and space history becomes ours in personal experience as the Holy Spirit, using the word of the cross and resurrection, brings us to life and we are born spiritually of God. The one upon whom God sets his unmerited favor and brings into faith-life union with Jesus Christ has eternal life and shall never perish. (“the sovereign grace of God”) Good Shepherd Community Church embraces a baptistic heritage. Christ Jesus gave his disciples the command to preach the gospel, call people to repentance toward God and faith in Jesus’ person and work. Those who believe are to be immersed in water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. As a gathering of baptized believers we are to study all that Christ has taught. We are to be a school of Christ Jesus learning God’s Word. (“baptistic”) Good Shepherd Community Church is a fellowship that embraces the historic liturgy (order pattern) of worship. Our worship services focus on the Word of God read and preached and enacted in the Holy Supper. Worship is a meeting of the people of God with God by the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ and with one another. What we do together must glorify God and must build us up in our most holy faith. We practice open communion for everyone who personally trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ alone as Savior. Therefore, every baptized believer, no matter the mode by which he was baptized is encouraged to share the sacrament. The Lord's Supper is observed weekly and we follow a Word and Table pattern.
