1 Corinthians 11:24

...and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

The Lord's Supper

at Good Shepherd Community Church

The Lord's Supper, or Holy Communion, is a precious and sacred ceremony in which Christians remember the death of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. Through taking the bread and cup we participate in a special experience of worship with our risen Lord who is in our midst.

The Bible is clear that this holy ritual is reserved for born-again believers. These are people who, because of the work of God's Spirit in their hearts, have repented of their sins and placed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Normally, they will have confessed their faith through the waters of Christian baptism.

If the Lord has so captivated your heart and you are seeking to lead your daily life according to God's will as revealed in the Bible, we warmly welcome you to join us at this Holy Table.

If you have not experienced the gift of God which we call the "new birth" or "salvation", and you are not leading a life of sincere repentance from sin and faith in the Lord Jesus, we ask you not to partake of the bread and cup. Please allow these elements to be passed by you.

We do not allow our own children or youth to participate in the Lord's Supper by eating the bread or drinking from the cup unless they have evidenced conversion to Christ and have been baptized. Unless your children meet these qualifications, we ask you to explain to them that they will not be allowed to partake of the bread and cup. Please indicate to the servers if any of your children or youth do meet the qualifications to partake of the elements.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect for the policy of our church on this important matter as we seek to honor the Lord and obey the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 11: 23-32).

If you are unsure of your standing before God and of the forgiveness of your sins, one of the elders or members would be happy to discuss these matters with you after the service.
